General Information

TATTOOS

Tattooing is an irreversible procedure & although we take extreme care in producing a satisfactory reproduction of any design and capabilities of artists to replicate the desired artwork. Also it has been known in some people the following can occur that is not the fault of the artist – infections, ink loss, ink fading, allergic reactions, and dryness of the tattoo. We are happy to advice on any problems that may arise & in the event of ink loss we do encourage that you return to us 6 weeks after the tattoo was performed for a touch-up! After this period a fee may be required.

Legally, in South Africa there is no age restriction barring children from obtaining tattoo and body piercings. South Africa is one of the few countries with no age limit governing tattoos. We do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18 years. Parental consent is not accepted. Therefore proof of age maybe required in the form of a picture ID such or driving license.

We welcome you sending us a design prior to booking.

Avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours prior to Tattooing. If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs we will ask you to leave and any deposit/voucher will become void and no monies paid returned.

Absolutely No drugs, alcohol or energy drinks before or directly after you get tattooed.

Do not apply topical numbing cream to the area before getting tattooed.

We cannot tattoo burnt or peeling skin.

A Tattoo consent form will be provided for you, this will ask you if you are pregnant or under the influence of alcohol or drugs of any kind, and that you are 18 years or older. These are the main reasons for a tattoo to be refused. By signing our consent form you have legally signed to say you don’t have any problems regarding your health.

We do not rush tattoos, so give yourself time and do not rush the artist.

Smoking is not allowed in the studio, if you wish to stop for a break this will come off the time allocated to you.

We do not undertake offensive / racist / gang related tattoos.

It is your responsibility to care for your new tattoo and follow the artist advice.

Tattoo artist are not employees of Queen of Steel, they are independent contractors for Queen of Steel. We will provide all tattoo aftercare information.


PIERCING

All Piercings are done in a sterile environment. Piercing healing times will vary, depending on placement and jewellery chosen to be pierced with. The piercer or front desk reception will advise the best jewellery or placement of piercings, which may vary depending on anatomy. Queen of Steel will not be held liable for any any irritation, migration or complications that may arise due to your final decision regarding the type of piercing jewellery chosen or placement there of. Queen of Steel representatives will recommend you return to the studio to down size the length or size of your jewellery for certain piercings, to prevent irritation or any form of migration.

Also it has been known in some people the following can occur that is not the fault of the piercer – infections, irritation, excessive swelling, allergic reactions, hyper granulation tissue or hypertrophic scarring as well as dryness of the piercing. We are happy to advise on any problems that may arise & in the event of excessive swelling within the first 7 days after a new piercing, we do encourage that you return to us as soon as soon possible for us to replace your jewellery. Jewellery replaced due to excessive swelling within the first 7 days will be replaced free of charge. After this period a fee may be required.

Piercing for minors will be allowed as long as they are 16 years or older. Most piercings can be done on minors, but not all of them. Minors that are 16 years of age and up can get the following piercings without parental consent: ear lobe, helix, tragus, conch, rook, forward helix, daith, snug, industrial, nostril, navel, eyebrow, monroe, lip, inverse lip, vertical lip, tongue, frenulum and web. Earlobe piercings can be done on children ages 5 and up with parental or guardian consent.

If we feel that you are not 16 years of age, we will ask you to provide us with photo ID, if you cannot provide us with photo ID, you will have to get parental or legal guardian to sign consent. For any dermal anchor, surface bar, cheek, surface tragus, anti-eyebow, high nostril, nipple, genital piercings or scarification you will have to be 18 years of age. If you cannot provide us with a photo ID, you will have to get parental or a legal guardian to sign consent.

Faranaaz is the only piercer on staff who does genital piercings. If you would like to get a genital piercing please call the shop in advance to make sure that she is working or come by the shop to schedule an appointment.

For hygiene reasons, there is no exchanges on body jewellery. If an item has a manufacturing defect, it will be exchanged for you within 30 days of it being purchased. In such case you will have too bring along your original receipt.

All products are returnable, excluding: Body Piercing jewellery, special order items, customs made jewellery, acrylic and organic. Products being returned need to be.

For safety and hygiene reasons, we will not pierce with non-studio jewellery.

All acrylic and organic jewellery will not be exchanged or refunded.

All Queen of Steel’s jewellery is pre-sterilised.

We will change your body jewellery at the time of purchase for, providing no tools is required. There will be a small fee payable for jewellery changes at other times.

Sometimes but not always, which is not the fault of the piercer or the tattooist, Vasovagal syncope (fainting), may occur. This is basically your body's reaction to distress and causes your blood pressure to drop rapidly, hence fainting. Symptoms and causes varies from person to person. The trigger is a bit different in everyone, but the sight of blood, or the knowledge that your body has been compromised, are two common triggers. Please inform your piercer or tattooist that your you've passed out with piercings or tattoos before, so they get a heads up and can take the proper precautions.

    Queen of Steel will keep all information confidential and any information collected by Queen of Steel is protected by security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information that you have given to us, to prevent unauthorised access.

    In completing your details on this web site you are deemed to consent to the collection and use of your information by Queen of Steel as set out in our Privacy Policy unless you e-mail us to advise otherwise. If you give us information about another person, you confirm that they have appointed you to act for them and they consent to the use of their information as set out in our Privacy Policy.

    Please be aware, we at all times reserve the right to refuse service for any reason, for example poor attitude, being unprepared or unreasonably late for your appointment or simply changing your mind with an unacceptable amount of prior notice or an excessive amount of times. A common reason for refusal of service is excessive alterations to size, small details or placement, this is a common indicator of being uncertain and could mean later on you regret rushing in.

    We unfortunately will be unable to tattoo you if we feel that you are too uncertain about your design and are "settling" with it, please be aware this is for your own benefit as it is our professional opinion that clients whom "settle" with a design are ultimately less happy with the finished product.

    Our full portfolio is available online and we prefer you book your appointment atleast 1 week in advance. If you have not conveyed your design requirements fully by the time of your appointment, or observed our style before booking and are then uncertain on your tattoo day, in such a manner that we are no longer comfortable tattooing you, we will be unable to re-book you and your deposit will be forfeited to cover our loss of income.

    Healing time for most tattoos is 3 weeks, during these 3 weeks, you’ll need to avoid tanning beds and sun tanning as well as lakes, pools, hot tubs, baths (quick showers are ok) and any other body of water where bacteria may be present. Do your best not to over expose the area of your body that has been tattooed. If you are unsure, please call and ask.

    Age restrictions apply for tattoo and piercing customers. If you appear to be under the relevant age for a tattoo or the relevant piercing age, a photo ID will be required. For any piercings requiring the permission of a parent or legal guardian, a photo ID will also be required from the parent/legal guardian (NB If there is some reason that last names and addresses do not match, there must be documentation on the name change or other pertinent information).

    There is a studio minimum on tattoos.

    Prices for tattoos depends upon the size, location, amount of detail, and technical requirements involved. therefore any prices given by phone, email etc are estimates only, not quotes, and may be recalculated at the time of the appointment. Please feel free to stop by one of our studios and speak with our staff to obtain a price quote.

    Walk-ins are welcome and are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.

    Appointments are also welcome and are accepted with a R500 deposit to reserve your time slot. Your deposit will be applied to the price of your tattoo.

    If you reserve an appointment and are unable to attend at your scheduled time, please provide at least 48 hours notice so that we may reschedule you. If you fail to show up for your appointment without providing notice, you will lose your deposit. Tattoo deposits are non refundable.

    Children are not permitted in the piercing and tattoo rooms.

    No filming or photographs allowed in studios without permission.

    If required, we offer one free touch up during the 3 months after the tattoo. This excludes hand and foot tattoos as well as cases where there are signs of bad aftercare, sun damage or picking at the healing tattoo. The artist, not the studio is responsible for any touch up required.

    At the discretion of the tattoo artist or piercer, you may be allowed to bring a maximum of one person into the piercing or tattoo room with you. This is subject to available space at the time of your tattoo/piercing.

    For hygiene reasons, while in the studio, please do not touch your tattoos or body piercings. We will change your body jewellery for free at the time of purchase, providing no tools are required. There will be a small fee for changes at other times.

    For hygiene reasons, there is no exchange on body jewellery. If an item has a manufacturing defect it will be exchanged for you.

    For safety and hygiene reasons, we will not pierce with non-studio jewellery.

    Please inform us when making an appointment that you will be redeeming a gift card and provide the gift card number. In order to redeem it, you must present a gift card/voucher at the cash desk prior to any work to be completed. All gift cards must be verified before the procedure. Queen of Steel is not responsible for lost, stolen, destroyed, or altered gift cards. Altered items will be rendered void. Gift cards are non-refundable nor redeemable for cash or credit. Queen of Steel reserves the right to amend and terminate the terms and conditions without prior notice.
